What is Nitriding?

Nitriding is known as a special heat-treatment hardening process that enriches the surface of the metal with nitrogen to create a hardened surface. This alters that structure and DNA of the material resulting in a material that is highly resistant to rust, and incredibly strong and durable. No chemicals are added, which makes the special nitriding treatment on cast iron a healthy alternative to PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) coating cookware.
